Built to show drivers the spread.
An independent auto-insurance distributor built in Columbus: one application, quoted across A-rated carriers, bound the same day — with a licensed advisor on your side.
In 2016, a carrier underwriter and a carrier product manager compared notes and admitted the quiet part: for the same driver, the same car, and the same limits, prices across carriers routinely differ by forty percent — and the industry works hard to make sure you never see it.
Maya Brooks and Daniel Reyes founded Lanewise to show the spread. The first “rating engine” was a spreadsheet quoting friends across six carriers by hand. Today it’s a panel of fourteen A-rated markets, an engine that re-shops every client’s renewal automatically, and a claims desk run by a former adjuster.
A decade in, more than 96,000 drivers are covered through the platform in 28 states — and the average first-year switcher keeps $642 that a loyalty-priced renewal would have quietly taken.

Three rules, since the spreadsheet days.
Transparent
The carrier scorecard is public. The commission model is published. If we can’t beat your rate, we say so and you keep our math.
Independent
No carrier owns a seat at our table. Two have been dropped from the panel since 2016 for how they treated clients at renewal.
Human
Software finds the price; a licensed advisor makes sure it’s the right policy. Nobody binds coverage here without human eyes on it.
